An organ recital by Patryk Podwojski

The Bakáts Square mechanical organ, renovated in 2024 and equipped with a stepper (Setzer) system in 2025, hosts free concerts by renowned European organists, such as Pedro Alberto Sánchez and Alessandro Bianchi. The concerts are organized by Szeged organist Levente Kuzma.

A CV of Patryk Podwojski

Patryk Podwojski completed his Master’s degree in 2018 at the Stanisław Moniuszko Academy of Music in Gdańsk, studying organ performance under Prof. Roman Perucki and Dr. hab. Hanna Dys. In 2021, he graduated from the organ improvisation class of Prof. Wolfgang Seifen at the Universität der Künste in Berlin. From 2015 to 2021, he served as organist of the Archcathedral in Gdańsk–Oliwa.

He is a prizewinner of international and national organ competitions. Since 2014, Patryk Podwojski has been the President of the Feliks Nowowiejski Art Promotion Foundation, with which he organizes numerous organ festivals and courses. He is also the founder and artistic director of several organ festivals in Poland.

His discography includes several CD recordings, among them a complete recording of all chorale partitas by the Gdańsk organist and composer Daniel Magnus Gronau, recorded together with organists from the Gdańsk area. This album was released by the Stanisław Moniuszko Academy of Music in Gdańsk as a world premiere recording.

Patryk Podwojski performs regularly both in Poland and abroad as a soloist and chamber musician. He is frequently invited to give masterclasses in organ improvisation, liturgical accompaniment, and practical harmony. He is also the founder and director of ImPro Akademia, an initiative dedicated to teaching and promoting organ improvisation on a nationwide scale through on-site and online courses. He regularly publishes his own arrangements and compositions for organists.

Since 2022, he has been an lecturer at the Feliks Nowowiejski Academy of Music in Bydgoszcz, in the Department of Church Music, where he teaches, among other subjects, organ improvisation and liturgical accompaniment. He is a recipient of scholarships from the Polish Ministry of Culture’s Young Poland programme and the National Recovery Plan for Culture.
