A CV of Gábor Hegedűs
Gábor Hegedűs completed his organ studies at the University of Szeged, Béla Bartók Faculty, and graduated as an organist in 2024 under the guidance of Levente Kuzma.
Since his childhood, music has played a decisive role in his life: he began his career as a wind musician, and during his early university years, as a student of the Budapest University of Technology and Economics, he strengthened the bass section as a tuba player in the symphony orchestra there. From 2002, Vilmos Leányfalusi, choirmaster and organist of the Cathedral of the Assumption in Kalocsa, introduced him to the mysteries of organ playing and improvisation. From 2005, he participated in the musical life of the cathedral first as a member of the Cathedral Choir and then as an organ accompanist.
In addition to Baroque and modern music, his repertoire is dominated by French Romanticism. At his concerts, he pays special attention to presenting the musical and historical background of the works in a way that is understandable to the audience, but increasingly the characteristics of the given instrument.
Since 2023, he has been the appointed organist of the Assumption Cathedral in Kalocsa.
